533. heavy head

Rant of the day: MC and I'm working... at home...

I'm on MC today. Not the common flu problem but rather having a heavy head this morning that I can't concentrate on my work.

I was already not feeling that good the moment I woke up but thinking that it might be because my brain is still in lala land. But by the time I'd reached office, I'm not feeling any better but instead, worse... My eyes were blurry. My head was heavy and my legs were feeling light as though I'm going to topple over. There were flashes of acute headache that came and go.

So no choice, I had to take MC. I can't be working like this when I can't concentrate on my work. And to think that I can rest well, I'm working from home instead! In fact, I'm still working now and had just decided that I should stop and continue tomorrow in office.

Think the problem came mainly from stress. Reached home yesterday late night after my SIM-RMIT orientation cum enrollment. My stress level shot all the way to my maximum limit and I don't know now if I can manage both work and studies at the same time. Plus, thinking of all those shit that office had "delegated", I might be bonkers and ending up slamming my face into my workstation.

At SIM yesterday, I suddenly felt so lonely. I'm so alone there and it felt like I've went back to my first day in NYP where I knew no one. But it felt worse last night when you see quite a number of them already had khakis doing the same course in SIM, prolly were from Diploma in Mass Communication at Ngee Ann Poly. I don't know how good or how bad will I flair in this course but I seriously don't want to dump my money here.

Worried... Stressed...

Plus, back in office, I've got tonnes of work that I need to work on in the coming months when my school starts in SIM.

I've got my intermediaries stuff to follow up closely myself.

I've got new application testing for one of the major portion with Weiming.

I've got website revamp write-ups with Sharon where we have to vomit out approximately 30 pages of information.

I've got the Basic Income Tax Course and exam to follow through without failing next month.

And I'm just being assigned with a new work to be completed by coming Friday (which I'd been working on it at home today)!

And guess what, my first paper with SIM is in coming November! Right...

Worried... Stressed...

I feel like changing a new job without so much datelines and stress.

531. dear's birthday and natsu matsuri

News of the day: Cheap slippers at Bedok!

Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to my darling.
Happy birthday to you.

It's dear's birthday today and we had a pretty interesting way of spending this wonderful day. While dear was working on her office relocation this morning, I'd spent the morning on touching up the pressie that I've got her more than a week ago.

I've got quite a nimble hands too. Inherited from my mum. Heehee... Anyway, inside the nice blue box is a brand new Nintendo DS Lite, light blue in colour. Dear had always wanted one, so, shall buy her one at the danger of burning my wallet. Shall not spend so much for at least 2 months.

Me in my new beanie. It's priceless. Brand -- Mum's Homemade.

Met up with dear for my lunch at Bedok, where I surprised her with the gift. Had been keeping the surprise away from her and bought her a "dummy" pressie (stitch cushion) to cover up the tracks. I'm not sure if my gift came too much of a surprise and made dear hushed in the public.

As planned, we tried to reach The Japanese School as early as we can for the Natsu Matsuri (Japanese Summer Festival). Dear always wanted to go, so I might as well go and see what's in store on such traditional festival. The place was crowded but luckily the place was pretty windy. Wanted to rent their traditional yukata but stock ran out even though we were practically rushing in as fast as our legs could carry. It'll be cool if I can pose in one!

The school is gigantic for a primary school. It came with a complete track and field, and outdoor stage and a swimming pool! It's even bigger than our local junior colleges!

Arina joined us at a later timing to catch some of the performances put up by the Japanese and even some of our local peps! Some nicely done, especially the tradition drums performance and some not so nicely done but still worth the claps for the effort. Just a word of advice -- hip hop dance performance should not involve too much performers.

Everything in the school is miniature. The toilet. The washing up corner. The benches. They even put a stool in front of the water cooler for the kids!

They actually painted the benches! So cute!

It's nice to see dear enjoying herself on her day. Seeing her smile makes me smile too.

530. timetable

Rant of the day: Some people just simply keep asking those "duh" questions!

The sudden downpour last night made me look so pathetic when I'm on my way to fetch dear off work. I'm almost wet throughout even though I had my umbrella with me. Anyway, I've finally got my timetable. School starts on 19th September.

The good thing is that RMIT completes module by module, instead of those poly days where they'll lump 7 to 9 modules in each semester and you'll get some sort of exam month where you'll study like a crazy man on the loose. Bad thing is, not only the timetable came, the first assignment came too. Shucks!

Hope I'll do well.

Mum got a new hobby -- knitting!

She had completed 3 wonderful knit wear now. A black and white knitted wrap for the cold weather (just in case we want to travel), a turqiose cardigan with 2 large roses and a brown and gold beanie for ME! Yeah! I love my beanie so much and she's considering knitting another beanie! She simply can't stop reading the knitting guides.

Perhaps, she can knit more and sell them on eBay. Haha... Eh, handmade knitted stuff ain't cheap ok. The threads itself cost a bomb!

It's dear's birthday tomorrow but she's working till noon. Oh well, in fact, she's still working now! But after her work tomorrow, we'll be having fun at Natsu Matsuri (Japanese Summer Festival). It's my first time though. I should do something that she likes alot. Hope dear will have fun tomorrow!

529. sighs

Rant of the day: I love the cool weather minus the damp portion.

Meetings, meetings and more meetings. But are the meetings productive? I have no-eye-deer. Monday is over and there's still 4 more working days to go. My days are getting more and more busy. More and more shit I have to handle. School is starting. My Basic Tax Course is starting. Projects are starting. More system testings are starting. I'm not sure if I can handle the heat. *sigh*

I've really got the urge to find a new job which:-
1) doesn't requires OT AT ALL
2) pays me well like
3) close to my home and school and preferably, close to dear's place of course
4) have good colleagues
5) have good bonus
6) have good benefits
7) doesn't holds onto TOO MUCH responsibilities

Think I must be dreaming. It's almost impossible to fulfil all those above. *sigh*

Dear asked me a question today -- am I still going to fetch her after work when her office moves from Dhoby Ghaut to Chai Chee Technopark? Think, before my school starts, it shouldn't be too much of a problem and we can have dinner at Bedok Central. But how long will this last? School starts in September... *sigh*

528. yaya and stitch

Rant of the day: I'm broke...

Dear is so into the Lilo and Stitch thingy which have been showing on Disney Channel. I pretty like the movie too. Still remember I was doing my final year in NYP when I was watching the entire movie in the Final Year Lab.

So, dear actually bought a Stitch soft toy. The ears are adjustable to different angles. Neat. Bought dear also a Stitch back cushion. Hope she love them.

It's been a wet day today. In fact, it's been wet for days! Weather is good for sleeping but not for shopping. Went to Bugis Street today and was raining while we were doing our shopping. Realised that many stuff are soooooooo mark-up! The male cardigans and berms. On the average, the male cardigan cost $45 - $60. While the berms will cost from $18 (super old stock) - $50! Crazy...

I'm not feeling so well actually. My head is feeling a lil heavy. Feeling abit giddy. Maybe I'm not getting enough rest but then again, I've slept till 10.30am this morning! Or maybe... too much rest? My voice is recovering really SLOW. Still sound quite coarse and muffled. Haiz... Whatever la...

It's Monday again tomorrow and it's gonna be damn busy. Why does the weekend seems so short? *sigh* Monday blues...

527. fireworks 2007

Rant of the day: Stupid damp weather dampened my Sentosa mood.

For those who was or wasn't at Esplanade for this year's Fireworks Festival 2007. Featured here was by Spain (I think) on 170807.

Enjoy some of the highlights that I've extracted from my video.

The full length video unfortunately, was not able to upload to YouTube or Dailymotion or TuDou. They can't accomodate a file which is bigger then 400mb. Oopx! So, if you wanna watch the full video, either pass me your thumbdrive (must be at least 512mb) or PM me on MSN (but note the LARGE file size).

526. spinach noodles

Rant of the day: More work... Hate it...

Isaac brought me to this place where they sell nice noodles. Situated outside United Square, the store has a funny name -- Rasa Sentosa Novena. Hmmmmm.

$3.50 for a plate of the Dumplings Spinach Noodles. Considering the generous serving of mushrooms, dumplings, vegetables and spinach noodles, I think it's quite worth the money. Taste wise, 3.5 out of 5. Do try it when you have the chance.

It's getting busy now and things that I'm working on for the past 2 months finally see some movement. Still working on it but I simply can't multi-task. Answering the helpline. Reply public email enquires. Work on my assigned task. Work on newly assigned testing stuff on new system. But I only got 2 hands and 1 PC. Sometimes, I think there's some stuff I missed out. YES! I forgot to print something for Hasanah! SHIT! See... I knew I forgot something.

Dear want to watch the fireworks tomorrow but I'm worrying about working OT and I'm also wondering if I can get a standing place to film down without obstacles. The newly assigned shit work that I'm working on with Weiming has past the dateline (How come they keep spelling "dateline" as "deadline"? It makes no sense! Or does it means once past the stipulated date, you are DEAD?). But Weiming keeps telling me not to worry and he can finish it up. Well, hopefully that all goes fine.

Managed to confirm that the 8.5hrs of OT that I've done during National Day will be paid back in terms of time off, 1 for 1. Not too bad. At least I get my free time back.

It's late. Need to get my beauty sleep. Nights peps!

525. class gathering

Rant of the day: Too scorching today! So warm!

Think I'm a lil sick. My nose is starting to "leak" and my throat doesn't feel so good either. I hope fever doesn't come after this.

Head-turner of the day. Practically EVERYONE who walked passed turned their head to see the sight. What's with the black cat backpack anyway? But it's quite cute actually. Some people are just so into the cosplay thingy. Well, same thing goes for the gothic "fashion".

Photo taken my dear, which explains why she's missing from the shoot. Anyway, just finished another poly class gathering. It's good that all of us tries to keep in contact. Such gatherings are chances to do some reminiscing of the good (or bad if any) old days. Gathering was good today. Turn up was quite nice but most of us can't (or don't want) to stay late as we're either too tired or some had to work early next day. Joel missed another gathering again even though he's really keen to attend but due to work commitment, he'll have to give it a miss. Next time dude.

I'm really sleepy. Need to catch some rest. Nights peps!

524. ndp 2007

Rant of the day: My long weekend finally begins...

So how was your National Day? Mine sucks. Was at office from 9.30am till 6pm! What a way to get my public holiday wasted. Think the only time I've smiled was meeting dear for dinner at Ichiban Sushi. I betta get the 8.5 hours worth of time off!

Enjoy the clip. So who says this year we don't have Chinese version of the national day song? Sang by 93.3FM deejays, Chong Qing and Jiahui.

Wins at the Makan Parade 2007 held on 8th August in office. A disney mug and 2 thumbdrives. Also, spent $3 for 3 memorable photos taken on that day. Kewl technology these days. Shoot and send for print immediately at different locations! Nice...

Buys at the event too. Nice and SWEET cup cakes. Too cute to put into your mouth. And they are honestly pretty expensive. 2 for $3 but as I had $7 left and they are closing soon, they sold me at 5 for $7. Anyway, money received are donated to the Childrens' Aid Fund.

I'm on leave tomorrow. Not really very free actually. Need to go down to SIM to make my payments. Education these days are so expensive. Care to donate to "Support Rice's Studies Fund" (SRSF)? Haha... =X

Hans is leaving in a couple of hours time and we haven't even meet up for a cuppa since he's back from the States for vacation. It's either he's too busy in he's plays and acts or I'm too busy with work work work. Think when he's back for his next vacation, I'll be even busier than now. Work, study and "pard tor" at the same time. Haiz. We'll work it out when he's back next time.

It's late. Need to catch some rest. Nights!

523. stuck in office

Rant of the day: I'm working... Sickening...

I can't believe I'm still sitting in office now, doing the testing for the change in helpline criteria with the rest of the representatives from other branch. It's been almost 6 hours and we are merely 60% done! Oh gawd! I don't want to be stuck in office!

Can't even enjoy my National Day in peace. Haiz...

But overheard from the "boss" that she's targeting to complete all by 5pm. Just hope that it's gonna be at 5pm and not later than that. I want the rest of my National Day NOT working. But then again, I'm not working tomorrow. I'm on leave tomorrow actually. Haha.

Just to kill the time waiting (there are lotsa waiting time), I brought dear's Harry Potter book 1 and 2 with me. Completed book 1 and I'm starting on book 2. Some of them are complaining that they're falling asleep. I'm not. I can't wait to end the misery and meet my dear for dinner with Angela and Likeng.

Mum is involved in the National Day thingy at Padang and I have no idea what she's going to perform. Hope she's having fun.

Sick of the situation I'm in now. May all goes well in the shortest possible time...

522. empty

Rant of the day: Darn... I'm working on National Day. Can't even enjoy my long weekend.

An empty bus. Haven't took an empty bus for quite some time. The short moment of lonely and quietness suddenly feel good. But just a short will do. Don't make the loneliness too long. It's not healthy.

Anyway, I hate to look for assistance. It's ok when the other party is willing to teach with all the right attitude. Even though sometimes it might not be useful or relevant. But it really irks me when the person have attitude problem and always makes you feel stupid! If I know how to do or what to do, I wouldn't be looking for help. If you don't want to help, then just make it known and I'll not ask you for help in the future. I don't need those arrogant tone to work on me as if your seniority makes a whole lot of difference. What's with that air of arrogance surrounding?

I've also realised that some peps just simply have too much ego in them. So much ego that they can't accept feedbacks at all. There's a saying that relates to if a person gives you truthful and sincere advise, this person is not your enemy but a friend and vice-versa. Although I wouldn't say I'm a superb and professional presenter but I dare say that I'm a pretty good one and therefore, my advises to improve presentation skills should be treated seriously. But since the ego forbids learning from my advises, then I'll save my "5-cent" worth of advise in the future.

Lesson learnt: Even though you are more then willing to share what you know, there's peps who simply thinks you are speaking crap. Save it for these peps. Not worth the effort.

Oh well...

If you've read my "rant of the day" correctly, yes, I'm working on National Day. How "nice"... Though not a full day work but it really disrupt my plans for a long weekend. It's a BIG arrow that I can't "siam" (dodge) just in case you didn't realise. Sharon calls it delegation of work. Haha. Let's just hope that it wouldn't take long.

521. accepted

Quote of the day: "If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." -- Henry Ford

After a long wait since March this year. After paying the registration fee. After participating and losing competition. After quiting job and be re-employed. The letter is finally here.

It's in a large brown envelope. It's thick. I was wondering besides the letter, what else can it be in the containment. Right... The bill! Haha! I have to make the first installment of more than $3000 by the stated deadline and after the first payment, I've got another 7 more installments to go.

So, with this letter coming, it only means less shopping, less movies, less good food, less clubbing and most importantly, less KTV-ing! But, I'm happy. At least I have the chance to do what I've always wanted to do since I was in secondary school. I know it's gonna be very very tough from now but I'll be working on it. I will have less time to rest. I will have less time for entertainment. I will have less time for family. I will have less time for dear.

Worried? A lil perhaps. But it's a path that I've chosen and I'm paying by myself, so, I have to work hard.

All I need now is the courage to move forward...
