1149. broke... really...
Rant of the day: Ulcers!!!!
I seriously needa cut down on spending this month. Scary aspects of GSS. Though I didn't really buy ALOT of stuff in large quantity, those small items I'd got since IT show do add up to quite an amount.
- 1 Lexmark wireless printer
- 1 Tommy Hilfiger shirt
- 2 Raoul shirts
- 1 Uniqlo polo tee
- 1 Uniqlo berms
- 2 iPhone 3GS casings
Broke~~~~~ *sigh*
Anyway, cleared part of a major task on Wednesday. Got a real experience on how a pro photographer truely works. In my opinion, I think this ang moh is seriously good. He's able to get the model (our own staff) into the mood for photography. Gives proper instructions. Shares his concepts and ideas. Quite an experience to work with him.
I hope my photography for wedding will have such pro photographers too. =P

1148. t.g.i.f
Rant of the day: Nose block GO AWAY!!!
I'm sooooooo looking forward to the weekend. Very tired!!! And very sick... My cold is not recovering fast. Still getting that nose block every now and then.
But... It's FRIDAY!!!
Friday will be a hectic but fun one (I hope). There's lots of things to complete and my entire afternoon will be out in one of the clinics. Here for 2 months and I'm already busy like crazy... Can't imagine further down the road.
But I'd enjoyed so far. The work. The people. It's fun and I'm feeling accomplished. My boss don't keep praises to herself. She is never shy of giving acknowledgement and encouragement. The kind of boss that everybody wants... seriously...
For now, I just wanna shout T.G.I.F.!!!

1147. 我要当DJ
Rant of the day: 我的天空今天有点灰……
I think you should stop。

1146. statistics
Rant of the day: Humid like crap!!!
This post was supposed to be published yesterday but due to some crappy blogger issue that my entire post was GONE!!! Totally waste of my time...
Anyway, this post was supposed to be talking about my results for Sundown 10km run. The good thing nowadays after such running events, they will tabulate the result and statistics, which I find it really damn cool. Here's mine...
Overall, I really improved ALOT as compared to my last Standard Chartered Marathon 10km. But back then, I was still nursing a fracture ankle. And now, even though it is still swollen and painful at times, but it is pretty much manageable. At least I can jog slowly without stopping while enduring the pain. Perhaps, it's just for the sense of accomplishment.
Some photos taken on that day.
Before the run, a quick snap while there's still sun.
That's like freaking lots of people running! Young. Old. Uncles. Aunties.
The "chio bu" Arina running with make-up and fake eyelashes. She just finished her sister's wedding. That's why...
After run... Shag. Take a break while we enjoy performances by The Good Fellas.
New medal to hang on my bed.
Which run should I go next? Singapore Bay Run?

1145. quick highlights
Rant of the day: Super duper sleepy...
I know I haven't been diligently update my blog. Yes, I'm lazy. So some quick highlights recently in my mundane life.
Photo taken earlier this month. I finally observed soil test for Punggol Emerald around my block. But recently, we saw piling work in progress. Which means, my block will be building soon! YEAH!!!
I love home-made birds nest dessert! I <3 mummy!!!
Still trying to fulfil my dream of becoming a radio DJ. Went for the So You Wanna Be A DJ audition at Orchard Central for YES93.3FM. Totally thrilled that one of the judges (玛丽) recognises me from last year's audition! So touched!
Though I'm not exactly confident on getting into top 8 but at least I'd tried. Taking the steps towards dreams is actually pretty much an accomplishment. Whether or not the results are favourable, it's an experience. I can say at least "been there done that". But when dear asked me till when do I still wanna do this, I really don't have an answer. I guess till the time when I can no longer participate due to whatever reason that forbids me.
Maybe she just don't find it convincing that I still wanna pursue the dream after soooooo many failures. But all I want is support. To all, if you don't wanna support me, at least don't stop me.
Besides that, done a pretty major event just this Monday. Made me woke up at 5 plus in the morning. Sweat like running tap. Run around like mad man. All just for a visit. But seriously, great exposure. No photos to this though. Where got time to take photos for my own pleasure? Moreover, I'm so unglam after the sweat.
So, I should quickly get back to bed. Sleepy. Need to continue my body maintenance recovery work... Ciaoz!

1144. we want a home
Rant of the day: Hate the weather...
I'm actually not so much into political news, especially the local ones. But since the recent hype over GE, the political scene in Singapore is finally worth talking about. Because it's about time Singaporeans speak up for the things that were suppressed over all these years.
With more oppositions into the parliament, the ruling party finally sees light in a total re-structuring of the Cabinet. Alot of talking over MM Lee and SM Goh stepping down but I say it's simply about time they do. Not being rude but seriously, after all these years of working in politics, it's really about time they take a break from these stuff. Look at how much they had aged. They need a REAL break.
Still, it do seem staged. Stepping down after GE. Well planned. At least they managed to save Marine Parade GRC back to the ruling party. I wonder how does the people in Marine Parade feel... "Vote for you then you step down. And the worse part is, we've got Tin Pei Ling into the parliament and now you (SM Goh) are leaving." Haha.
Whatever... Not my GRC...
Still, it's pretty irritating to get someone we don't like into the parliament. Not that she can't work the grounds since she hasn't really started but would you spend $15000 per month on someone you don't like to gain experience? She can't even give sound answers to the media for goodness sake! Her answers before the flaming where immature. Now, her answers were either repetitive or pre-planned. The people ain't stupid lah. We can tell whether you are memorizing answers or not...
Let's just hope she really make things work.
And after looking at today's release on our new members in the Cabinet, really sad to know that my "boss" is leaving for another posting. Hopefully a change of boss will not have adverse effects on the healthcare scene here.
Also, the most hated MBT is finally stepping down! That's a great news! Easy for you to say that the gahmen will continue to build affordable housing. See the italics because easy for him to say. If you have not seen the BTO at Punggol, the new 5-room at Waterway II can cost up to $450K!!! $50K more to half a million. Need we remind that this is HDB flat and not private housing? And it's NOT freehold. It's on lease for 99 years. Hello... Which part of the pricing is affordable?
I guess that these civil servants forgot why they are voted into the parliament -- to serve the people because we put our trust in you. If the current ruling party don't wake up on time, very soon we will have a new ruling party. Because we don't want just a house. We want a home...

1143. most right answer
Thought of the day: NSP = Nicole Seah Party? Haha...
I'm not usually a politics person on my normal days but this General Election (GE) is getting me all filled up with information. The ruling party. The opposition parties. Information spilling in all possible media platforms. Twitter. Facebook. Youtube. And of course the traditional media.
I can even gain access to these GE stuff even when I'm lying on my bed in Bintan!
Heh... Life of a crazy Singaporean.
But if you are asking me which party am I voting for? Honestly, I vote for the party that can propose for the best policy for my area and for the country in the next 5 years. And do note that the policies and plans need to be achievable. With that, it means I'm not incline to any specific party.
I wasn't like this previously. I used to be a pro-PAP voter. Yes... Used to be one but now no longer. A free-thinker perhaps. I guess it all boils down to the fact that the current gahmen is not making life any easier for the peeps on the streets like me. And many are getting delusional to who should we vote. Top pressing issue on our list -- affordable housing. In what way do you think a new 5-room BTO in Punggol fetching now up to $450k affordable??? That's $50k to half a million!!! And let me remind you that these HDB flats are not exactly ours. It's on 99 years lease. Eventually, it's going back to the gahmen.
It's easy for the peeps in gahmen to comment that we should buy based on our means. We need to loan and pay on installments for maybe up to 30 years while for them, probably half a year's salary. For us, asking for a 5-room new flat isn't a luxury, keeping your "estimated completion in 5 years" in mind. Because by then, newly-wed couples probably have children (most 1 but some may already have 2) and a 4-room is probably not big enough to house everyone comfortably.
So am I considered buying within my means? In the short-term... No. But planning in advance... Yes. The gahmen need to plan the country's future in advance and so do the people. But with this increase in housing prices, we can foresee our people in the future not able to lease a flat from HDB. Perhaps in 5 years down the road, a 5-room may fetch up to $1million... Scary eh...
Not missing out on other stuff, GST is another thing that the people faces. 7% is honestly not alot... Well, to the well-to-do people of course. But it is a hell lot of burden to the middle and low-income people. Buy this, 7%. Buy that, 7%. Eat, 7%. Shop, 7%. Now, everytime I pay at the cashier, I really do look at the 7% surcharge. And when we add these 7% together, it's ALOT of money!!! At least it is for me...
Of course, a country cannot function without taxation but would it be better if we can reduce this GST to perhaps 5%? At least the people will feel lighter on their backs with this. Merely giving out money to the people to "relive" the rising cost does not really solve the issue. And don't forget, those are OUR money in the first place. It's our tax... And the cheating part is, giving out these "packages" just before the GE is a subtle way of "buying" votes. I'm really not buying the idea. Don't say it's coincidence. If it is, then why am I not striking the lottery?
To the younger voters, information now are readily available everywhere and honestly speaking, the new media ain't doing the ruling party any good. Lotsa flaming we see online everyday against them. And of course, alot of insensitive comments from the ruling party are also seen or heard online. On taxation. On upgrading. On regrets in life. On Kate Spade. On threatening the people if we vote for the oppositions.
I guess, the ruling party needs to be more careful with what they say and don't take the current achievement for granted. The party achieved because your people allows that. So please jolly well treats everyone of equal stands. No people should be getting preferential when it comes to upgrading plans. Be it the people vote for the ruling party or the oppositions, all should get the same treatment. Because we all pay the same tax. We all pay money to the gahmen to run the country and to freaking increase the ministers' and president's salary! And since we are all paying you, I think it's only logical you serve all without bias. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, I'm still open to hear more views from the parties in my GRC and should be casting the vote to the party with the "most right answers" to my next 5 years.
Cast your votes wisely people...

1142. loving bintan
Rant of the day: Seasick...........
I love short get-aways. It gives us time to break the routine and provide some breathing space. I think so far, Bintan has always been a fantastic place to take a quick break over a long weekend. It's not a very long ride from Singapore and language wise, it's more or less manageable. And, there's no need to monitor exchange rate for Rupiah because they spend in SGD.
But of course, the bad part about "holiday-ing" in Bintan is the expenses. A mere lunch and dinner can fetch around S$60! That's expensive... So, where possible, bring your own food and drinks. Cut cost but unless you are loaded and spending poses no problem.
We all love the beach. Seriously, you can't get this in Singapore. Minus other places like Bali or Redang of course. This is the best we can get with just a 55min ferry ride from Singapore!
Other than eating, soaking up in the pool and "beach-walking", the next best thing to do there is massage. No photos for that but honestly, we love their couple package. S$138 for 2, including massage and body scrub. 100min of pure relaxation.
Spending time in Bintan feels like the minutes slows down. Time goes by so slowly.
Think this year isn't a travel year. After this trip, the next short trip should be in August. My leave is already approved. But where to go? Bangkok? Genting? Somewhere budget definitely.
For now, my heart and soul are still in Bintan even though the body is already back here.
Back to work tomorrow but hey, this is another short week! 4 working days!

Rant of the day: We weren't expecting this...

1140. buys
Rant of the day: Makan makan makan...
Been buying stuff recently but guess I will need them.
My laptop mouse decided to give way after serving me for coming 3 years. But seriously, this is the first time I see a mouse break this way and I didn't do much to it.
So I got a new one from PowerLogic and it's pretty nice. Love the DPI specs at that price. Plus, I like this new uni-retractable design. Wondering where's the USB cable?
It's found underneath. Turn it over.
Open the cover and there is the USB!
Pull out the cable till desired length and close the cover.
Turn it over. Nice~~~ Very portable right? Love it and it's white!!!
And besides this, bought ties for work as well. Have to wear them everyday so, need to get them ready. 3 for $30 at a push cart outside Suntec Carrefour. Not expensive and the designs are very attractive!
This is probably the weirdest buy for men... the male "corset"! Not exactly weird lah. It's actually a compression top design to compress the body mass during workouts for more effective build. If I'm not wrong, quite a few sports brands had already released theirs. I got these from Spanx at Tangs. Besides wearing it during workout, it can also be worn as under shirts for a better shape body.
But it's not cheap. $139 for 1. I got 2, 1 white and 1 black. Luckily I had requested for Tangs vouchers for my farewell to offset most of the price and I only paid $28. Haha... Got these mainly for wedding shoots and banquet. I have to look nice right?
Coming Saturday will be my first work on weekend. Hmmmmmmm...

1139. adapting
Rant of the day: Need to wear tie everyday...
I'm still attempting to adapt to the new environment but perhaps I haven't been a "newbie" for quite a while (4 good years in fact), felt pretty lost at times and not sure where to start and what to do. But I'm pretty sure I'll get the hang of the job real soon.
Missing out the peeps in old office but I'm sure they are doing fine without me around. Now I really need to adapt to this whole new working hours. But it's actually the traveling that kills. 1 hour!!! I must get use to this man...
Oh I need to say this... My new colleagues are friendly!!!

Rant of the day: 很累了……
Because over-writing decisions made by parents is extremely disrespectful.

1137. a trip to remember
Rant of the day:
I'm on leave for the past 2 weeks but honestly, way too lazy to update my blog. Seriously, there is nothing much to blog about. Beside swimming on almost every weekday afternoon and staying home to watch variety shows and movies, I've nothing much to write. If I stay home any longer without job, I might just transform to an otaku (宅男).
Anyway, my laptop was down last week and that gave me a brand new perception on Acer. No way I'm getting Acer now. Another brand on my blacklist after Dell.
Got a new laptop from Fujitsu and hopefully this laptop will serve me well. But the setting up of the iTunes and stuff was a chore. Gawd... But luckily got it up and running now.
And now, happily blogging with it and I so love it's keyboard and LED monitor. And, it's WHITE! Nice~~~
Had my birthday family dinner at Swissotel Merchant Court Ellenborough Market Cafe. It's seriously GOOD! Even though the price may be slightly on the high side but worth every cent. Just the fresh oysters, prawns and mini lobsters are enough to cover back the cost!
The oysters so fresh that it tasted sweet. Even dear, who don't eat fresh oysters, grabbed a few and simply couldn't stop praising them. Too bad. Forgot to take family photo.
And birthday cake is from Pine Garden's. Lychee Martini again but just can't stop having them. It's only took us a couple of days to gobble up the entire 1kg!
On my birthday yesterday, spent a wonderful day with dear at Universal Studio Singapore. Entire day well spent and by the time we head out to Vivocity for dinner, we were already fully drained. This trip is exceptionally important because the last time I went was when I'm wheelchair bounded. This time, I can cover the entire place on my own foot! And of course, with dear by my side. Last time, girlfriend. Now, fiancee. Haha... To the uncle in the following photo, kua simi?
Took lotsa photos but not possible to put everything up here. Those had added me on Facebook, do check out my photo album. Just gonna post a few here.
Photos with mascots that we didn't take the last time. Cute...
Battlestar Galactica! I took both Human and Cylon. Very happy that dear accompanied me to one of them but she gave up subsequently. Guess these rides are way too scary for her. And that's also why I'm very very touched when she insisted to accompany for 1 of them.
In my opinion, Human is way too scary! Though there were no cock screw turns but the speed (90km/h) and the almost 90 degree drop can seriously make you pee your pants! At one point of time during the steepest drop, we can literally feel ourselves lifting out from our seats and only to be stopped by the safety catch! And this is the one that dear took with me. After the ride, both our heads were spinning like crazy. We had to sit down and REST!
As for the Cylon, it's also pretty scary but not as bad as Human. This ride emphasizes on the spins and upside-down cock screw turns. When the speed is so fast, seriously you wouldn't feel much on the upside-down. What's the real scary part is the seats are "hanging" and not the traditional seated type. So our legs are dangling outside!
This had gotta be one of the World's best roller-coaster rides ever!
Besides this, we managed to catch some other features and rides that we didn't get to do the last time. Watched Monster Rock performance and seriously, it's 2 thumbs up! Damn good! World-class performance. Love their singing and dancing.
We took the wet ride too at Jurassic Park. Skipping this the last time 'cause the queue was crazy. This ride will surely make you REALLY wet! Bring spare clothes...
The special effects from Steven Spielberg was damn cool! But next time, stand on the 1st row. Can't really feel the typhoon from the last row.
Caught a few street performances. Honestly, these are what attracts the visitors and make them continue to stay "high" after a hot and long day. Applause for the performers who need to sing and dance under the hot sun.
I wanna go back again lah! Make a point to visit there every year with dear and I sure hope this can continue even after we have children! Haha... Family day outing mah. Things that all of us should do to stay bonded.
A tip to all who wanna visit Universal Studio Singapore. Go on a weekday. Avoid the following days:
1. Public holidays
2. School holidays
3. Weekends
Well unless you are prepared to queue like 1hr for 1 ride. Else, a weekday please and does not crash with (1) to (3). The longest ride we waited yesterday was only 20min! Shortest? 5min and that's the Battlestar Galactica!
Dinner last night was settled at Marche Vivocity. Always loving their seafood paella. Though the dinner was short but all I need is for dear to spend quality time with me.
My brother and his girlfriend (Kelly) also really sweet. Knowing that I'm a serious sucker for gorgeous cuff links, they got me a pair from Massimo Dutti! Wah! Love lah~~~
But now, I need to buy more shirts that require cuff links. I've got sooooooo many cuff links but only 2 shirts for them. Right... Nice one Eric... So perhaps it's a sign for shopping... AGAIN! Haha...

1136. moving on
Rant of the day: 落幕时总是百感交集的……
I'm finally moving on.
There's an opportunity.
And I needed it badly.
They made an offer.
I cannot resist.
I grabbed the chance.
A job closer to what I studied.
A job closer to what I had planned for myself.
A job that may not be easy.
But definitely a job that I really really wanted to try.
And do it well...
So, I think I finally took that deep breath.
Took the resignation form.
Signed it.
Superiors understand my directions in life.
They fully supported the idea.
I'm glad they do.
And here I go... Serving my notice period.
New challenges await me in 1 month time.
I am ready.
