828. live on radio

Rant of the day: Emails... Emails... Emails... Can they stop coming in? AHHHHHHH...

So did you hear me on radio just now? Gosh... I ate screws again!!! Nervous but seriously, it was quite exciting. Imagine talking through the mic and letting dunno how many peeps hear my voice! If I can't be a DJ, at least I can bring today's experience with me forever.

At least I can tell my grandchildren that their ah gong got talk in radio once for about 15min. Haha...

Mum managed to record certain segments of the interview and was going through again from mum's handphone just now. Hmmmmmm... At certain point, I do sound a bit like Chong Qing. But than again, the recording quality sucks. Can't hear clearly. So, will need to listen again from Joanne's recording.

Anyway, details for the finals to this Y.E.S. 93.3FM Voice Idol (声音偶像) are as follows:

Date: 14 March 2009
Day: Saturday
Time: 7pm 4pm
Venue: Bugis Junction Square

Do come support me ok?

Hope the rainbow I saw last week is a good sign for me... Cheers!

**********

Just to share a funny stuff circulated in office earlier... The soldier and the nun.

A soldier came to a fork in the road and saw a nun standing there. Out of breath he asked, "Please Sister, may I hide under your skirts for a few minutes. I'll explain WHY later." The nun agreed.

A moment later two Military Police came running along and asked, "Sister, have you seen a soldier running by here?"

The nun replied, "He went that way."

After the MP's disappeared, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, "I can't thank you enough Sister, but you see, I don't want to go to Iraq..."

The nun said, "I think I can fully understand your fear."

The soldier added, "I hope you don't think me rude or impertinent, but you have a great pair of legs!"

The nun replied, "If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen a great pair of balls... I don't want to go to Iraq either."

Haha... Luckily, we do not have to go to Iraq.

827. stagnancy

Rant of the day: Throat still dry...

Sometimes I really appreciate individual assignments. You are your own boss. You manage your own stuff. You answer for nobody else but yourself.

But as long as you are studying or working, individual assignments are unavoidable.

I hate discussions going round and round in circles. It's not going anywhere! Stagnancy. I cannot stand stagnancy for too long. If things ain't moving, I'll go crazy... Stop arguing in circles! Move on please.

826. mind your manners

Rant of the day: My desktop died...

Isn't the weather weird? It was scorching this afternoon and than a sudden downpour washes off all the heat. The switch between the weather is too huge.

Anyway, it's time to bring Deric for a nail cut and also to trim his fur on his paws. But the heavy rain did not make things any better. Had to carry Deric all the way to avoid his getting wet. And gosh, he is VERY heavy! Think about 14kg! That's a lil too heavy for an 8 months old puppy. Ran some errands for him too.

It was supposed to be a relatively happy day till we met this rude driver on our way home.

We were driving on lane 1 (the fastest moving lane) of TPE, moving towards CTE. As dear was driving steadily on the treacherous weather, a silver Nissan Latio from lane 2 suddenly swerved into our lane without any signal!

Naturally reaction, dear had to hit the brake hard enough to avoid hitting into the car. And also, sound horn to warn the driver that the sudden changing lane without signalling was dangerous. We had done nothing wrong right? Everything still law by law.

And out of the sudden, the Latio driver suddenly changed lane ALL the way to lane 3. The furthest lane from us. As we were moving faster than lane 3, we crossed the Latio car. Out of sudden, the Latio driver pointed middle finger at us. This is totally rude!!! And the funniest part is he had a window bind covering his window to avoid us seeing how he look like.

What is wrong with him? Something not too right up in his brain.

To all drivers, please note the following:

Number 1
The road is not own by you. If you are a male and cannot tahan getting honked by a female driver, I suggest you to stay at home and don't step out. Your male ego is too big for the World to handle.

Number 2
If you got the gut to point middle finger, I dare you to show your face. Don't hide behind the bind. Stop being a coward. Why? Afraid that we take photos of you and make an official police report? In our instance, our driver is female and the Latio driver is pointing middle finger to dear. Do you know it is an offense to anyhow point middle finger to a female? Under Penal Code (Chapter 224) Section 509, word or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman can bring you imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.

Number 3
As rumoured, the length of the middle finger to the end of the palm measured to be the length of the male's erected penis. So, erm... think that rude Latio driver should stop pointing middle finger. It doesn't exactly reflect very well of the length of his manhood. Really...

Are you a rude male driver too? It's time to mind your manners on the road.

**********

Our desktop suddenly died. It refuse to run. I really appreciate mum's enthusiasm to wanna vote for me online. But since the desktop is down, there is no need to dwell on it.

It is sometimes very hard to explain technology stuff to parents isn't it? Think brother and I tried explaining so hard why the older backup desktop cannot connect to the Net router that mum got angry because she don't understand what we are trying to explain.

The Internet port is different mum. We cannot change the way the Internet gets routed. It has to go through the wireless router.

*sigh*

What I can do is to search around for a converter port to trying allowing the new wireless router to connect to the old desktop.

825. japanese pizza

Rant of the day: I need to slim down!

Seriously, did recession really hit us? See the reports on the news on the Natas thing. Isn't it ridiculous? Recession still got money to go overseas and spend somemore. And also, queues at restaurants ain't short! Recession still got money to eat expensive foood. Hmmmmmm...

Not sure if you peeps had seen this store, Botejyu, at Liang Court level 2. Long queue lor!!!

Saw this shake shake jelly fruit drink imported from Japan. Not cheap for a small bottle of drink.

Dear ordered this Japanese Pizza thingy -- Prawn Okos. Looks delicious isn't it? It's crust contains eggs, potato, cabbage and I think onion.

See! The prawns are really fresh and tender. Totally yummy.

I ordered this weird looking egg wrap. The sauces on top looks like chocolate sauce with milk. But it's actually BBQ sauce and mayo. Guess what's inside?

It's noodle and pork! It's a lil different from the Okos thing. The egg does not have onions, cabbage and potato. Basically, just egg wrap noodle.

But hor, not exactly cheap. And be prepared to queue for a while. This excludes the waiting time after ordering the food. So, don't go with an empty stomach.

**********

Every month I have to go through the same shit again and again and again. Understanding... understanding... understanding... Have I not been understanding enough? I've been trying really hard to do my best and be understanding...

*sigh*

Being understanding means to understand the situation, understand the pain, understand the discomfort, understand the reason why you feel moody and be empathy with you. It does not equates to coaxing...

Maybe the problem lies with me...

824. for the birds

Rant of the day: So sian... So many emails...

I love Pixar animation!!! Totally adorable lar!!!

823. on air

Rant of the day: My throat very dry... Shucks...

Voice training is quite fun today. Learn voice projection and techniques from the experts. But unfortunately, it's a crash course. So, only the basics and fundamentals. Will practise hard!

Schedule is more or less ready. Details to the finals are not finalised but will be on 14 March, Saturday, around 4pm. Will let you peeps know more details.

Anyway, catch me live on Y.E.S. 93.3FM on coming Tuesday, 3 March, 7.30pm on 周先生与周太太 programme segment by 周崇庆 (Zhou Chong Qing) and 蔡伟彬 (Cai Wei Bin). I'm sure it will be fun!

My dream of letting people hear my voice over the radio will come true! But that's not the end... I still dream to be a radio DJ.

822. KOSÉ mask white is not white

Rant of the day: So tired... So stress... Can the emails stop coming in?

Seriously, I can't remember when was the last time I did a peel-off mask. Think it's like 2 years ago? And why are you eyes opened so big? Why? Guys cannot do peel-off mask meh? I had been doing mask (though not consistently lar) since secondary school!

I'm not ah gua ok... I'm a vain pot!!! Haha...

Anyway, was given this KOSÉ Seikisho Mask White sample by a friend to try and I was like thinking "why not". But... it's a whitening mask and wouldn't it make me too white for a guy? I seriously hesitated. I'm sort of persuaded to just try and will know it has other effects beside turning me white.

Fine. I'll just try. If I turn too white, I'll hack my friend into pieces. Haha...

So, how to DIY a peel-off mask? Guys, I know you seldom do it but it's time you learn to do some simple self-grooming.

Step 1: Make sure your hair stay away from your face. Else, you will be peeling your hair when it dries.

Step 2: Apply the mask. Seriously, I was stunned after I opened the sample. The mask is BLACK! Erm... Wasn't a whitening mask white?

Step 3: Make sure you applied to the whole facial area. But, exclude your brows and if you have goatee or moustache, avoid them too. Erm, think I did not really managed to apply evenly. Too thin lar... Need to apply more.

Step 4: Wait for about 15min to 20min. Make sure the mask is dried before you peel off everything. And you are done!

So how it feels? Tight when its drying up on my face. And I really mean TIGHT! But I guess it does more than whitening. It sort of removed most of my dried and dead skin. And apparently, I saw some white heads too!

My face now feels much smoother and I did not turn white! In fact, the skin looks brighter instead. Perhaps it's because the dead skins are gone.

But hor, think my face too big lar. The surface area too big... 1 sample not enough. Can I have some more samplesssss? Haha...

If you like this post, vote for me here and you will stand a chance to win an iPod Touch!!! Vote for my post now!!!

821. support me

Rant of the day: I got no time to check my office email...

Think Y.E.S. 93.3FM website has the voting for your most favourite voice idol. Go to their website at http://www.yes933.sg/portal/site/yes933 and look at the left-hand menu voting section (我要投票).

I'm contestant number 10!

If you really support me, do VOTE FOR ME!!! Thank you peeps in advance!

Also, I really appreciate all the wishes I had received on Facebook. Really... Thank you peeps! I will train hard and do all I can for the competition.

Anyway, see this lecture on YouTube. Titled Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (23 Oct 1960 - 25 Jul 2008), it was his real last lecture before he past away. He was talking about childhood dream. Very inspirational.

So, will I ever become a DJ and fulfil my dream? All I know is I am one step closer.

820. voice idol audition clip

Rant of the day: I'm sooooooooo tired...

It's a lil embarrassing...

My audition is put on Y.E.S 93.3FM website! Yes Joanne, I found the link to listen to my audition clip. Here's the link: http://www.mediacorpradio.sg/yes933/voiceidols/. Look up to number 10 for my voice clip and profile.

Don't laugh hor...

To be honest, most of the other contestants are really good. But I screwed up and that explains all the "screws" (吃螺丝) during the recording. Too nervous lar~~~ I read the script till my armpit sweat lor!!!

So, do support me if I'm in the stage round. Not sure when and where will it be held though. Will keep it posted here.

“Eric!我们永远支持你!!!”

Will I be the next Y.E.S. 93.3FM voice idol for the 罐头剧场? I think I really need to work alot harder than the others... Training starts this Friday.

Gambatte!!!

819. facebook-ing

Rant of the day: I think I'm falling sick... again...

I'm not sure if you are experiencing the same thing as I am but somehow, just caught in this funny dilemma of adding friends in your online social network. I'm quite sure most of us have a Facebook account and are maintaining it to the fullest.

So the funny thing is, there are so many people whom you had lost contact with -- primary school mates, secondary school mates, CCA mates, ex-colleagues or even your ex(es). When you found their profile, you ain't sure if you really wanna add them. Reasons?

1) Not sure if you got the right person (especially your primary school mates who look totally gorgeous now but used to be a complete nerd or vice-versa)
2) Not sure if this person still remembers you (if makes it worse if you look totally gorgeous now but used to be a complete nerd or vice-versa)
3) Not sure if this person still holds any grudges against you (if applicable)
4) Not sure if adding this person will make you look like a complete arse if the above 3 are applicable

I had so much struggle everytime I try to build my contact list on Facebook or Friendster!

So sad...

Anyway, love this new singer, Liang Wen Ying (梁文音). Her voice is sooooo penetrative... totally crystal clear and flawless. Here's her new song, 我不是你想像那麼勇敢. Enjoy.

818. prawn fishing

Rant of the day: School starts tomorrow. 4 days this week! I'm tired...

I am not sure why but I'm really not enjoying my weekend. Maybe I'm too drained with work and can't get peace even after work. Or maybe I'm too broke to go anywhere because everything needs money.

The last withdrawal almost made me vomit blood. It's only about 2 weeks from my last pay day and I had spent more than 60% of my designated amount. I've still got 2 weeks to go before my next pay cheque.

Sian...

Can I like just stay home and not go anywhere? I need to quarantine myself and NOT spend! It's so demoralising lor! So sad... Simply no mood but sometimes people around you sort of can't sense your "moodless" behaviour.

*sigh*

Anyway, dear found a new but expensive hobby... prawn fishing. I had done it once during poly days and never quite like it. Cause it is really NOT cheap if you don't catch that many prawns.

But than again, as long as dear likes it and pays for it herself, I'll just tag along and hang around...

There's the floating bait indicator. Beneath lies our bait and the prawns...

This is the bait. Chicken heart. But it ain't effective. Prawns like smelly food, similar to crabs. So, think chicken liver will be a better bait. Best if you can find fat and live earthworms.

Here's dear with her first catch. She's so proud with her catch. So, she'll do the fishing, I'll do the un-hooking. What is rewarding for the "moodless" me is seeing her so excited everytime the we catches a prawn.

So, we spent 3 hours catching... erm... 7 prawns. Not too bad for beginners. I guess this prawn fishing will continue till dear run out of interest.

If you are interested too, do visit those prawn fishing places at Bishan, Pasir Ris and Punggol. Prices are about the same. $15 per hour. $30 for 3 hours.

817. story of HR manager

Find of the day: I found new function on my Omnia!!!

I love this. Depicts what we are facing...

One day while walking down the street a highly successful Human Resources Manager was tragically hit by a bus and she died. Her soul arrived up in heaven where she was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter himself.

"Welcome to Heaven," said St. Peter. "Before you get settled in though, it seems we have a problem. You see, strangely enough, we've never once had a Human Resources Manager make it this far and we're not really sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," said the woman.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have higher orders. What we're going to do is let you have a day in Hell and a day in Heaven and then you can choose whichever one you want to spend an eternity in."

"Actually, I think I've made up my mind, I prefer to stay in Heaven", said the woman.

"Sorry, we have rules..." And with that St. Peter put the executive in an elevator and it went down-down-down to hell.

The doors opened and she found herself stepping out onto the putting green of a beautiful golf course. In the distance was a country club and standing in front of her were all her friends - fellow executives that she had worked with and they were well dressed in evening gowns and cheering for her. They ran up and kissed her on both cheeks and they talked about old times. They played an excellent round of golf and at night went to the country club where she enjoyed an excellent steak and lobster dinner.

She met the Devil who was actually a really nice guy (kind of cute) and she had a great time telling jokes and dancing. She was having such a good time that before she knew it, it was time to leave. Everybody shook her hand and waved goodbye as she got on the elevator.

The elevator went up-up-up and opened back up at the Pearly Gates and found St. Peter waiting for her. "Now it's time to spend a day in heaven," he said.

So she spent the next 24 hours lounging around on clouds and playing the harp and singing. She had great time and before she knew it her 24 hours were up and St. Peter came and got her. "So, you've spent a day in hell and you've spent a day in heaven. Now you must choose your eternity,"

The woman paused for a second and then replied, "Well, I never thought I'd say this, I mean, Heaven has been really great and all, but I think I had a better time in Hell."

So St. Peter escorted her to the elevator and again she went down-down-down back to Hell. When the doors of the elevator opened she found herself standing in a desolate wasteland covered in garbage and filth. She saw her friends were dressed in rags and were picking up the garbage and putting it in sacks. The Devil came up to her and put his arm around her. "I don't understand," stammered the woman, "yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and a country club and we ate lobster and we danced and had a great time. Now all there is a wasteland of garbage and all my friends look miserable."

The Devil looked at her smiled and told..........

"Yesterday we were recruiting you, today you're an Employee."

Nice... Cheers people... That's life!

Work on it Eric!

815. coca cola

Quote of the day: The next right answer...

Shit. Think the smog is making my sick... as usual. My body is really sensitive to all the smog. Never fail to fall ill when the forest fire starts. Now my throat is starting to sore. I bet in a couple of days time, I'll start to cough and sneeze. It's sorta routine every year lar...

Anyway, love this Coca Cola commercial. Wickedly made! Love it!

If humans co-operate like them, this World will be a better place to live in...

**********

I'm always there whenever the blood donation drive is held in office. In fact, I had been donating blood since my poly years. Seriously, besides the first jab for the local anesthesia, the rest ain't painful at all.

Yup. Halfway through the donation and I'm still enjoying the work. Not very big packet lar. Only about 500ml I think.

See the flow of my blood? Comes all the way from the large vein to the lil packet. The "stress ball" that we need to squeeze is to hasten the flow of the blood.

Here it is. Almost full. I have to "squeeze" the ball faster 'cause I'm the second last donor! Thanks to all the meetings. Waste time...

So, starting giving life to save life!
