Rant of the day: Hate long distance driving... Shag man...
Why is buying a family car so tough?
'Cause everyone have different concerns. What we finally discussed and narrowed to 2 models, either Kia Cerato Forte or Hyundai i30. But which one is better?
The similarities
While both cars are of different league and class, the both share some common stuff. The engine is the same because Kia is bought over by Hyundai in Korea. But Kia's engine is more advance but still same engine family. It is almost equally spacious in both cars. Plenty of leg room at the passenger area. Boot is pretty spacious as well.
Kia Cerato Forte Advantages
It's cheaper than Hyundai i30 by a hefty $5700! May not seem alot to most peeps but after breaking down the installment and interest, it is quite a huge sum to think about.
The package that is included in the small price is very comprehensive. A 1.6l version SX series with auto gear already comes with 17" sports rim. The sports rim not cheap lor. Also, comes with leather seat, reverse sensor and alot of whatever not. Those additional features that we always ask for free.
Plus, because it's a sedan car, we don't need the extra body kit to pump it up. It's already pretty much ready to see peeps on the street!
All we need to ask for free extras are perhaps free tinted glass, extended labour-free warranty and if possible, higher discount...
Kia Cerato Forte Disadvantages
The engine though is a new and advance version as compared to Hyundai, we can't be sure if it is really better. Ultimately, this car is only launched in February this year. So, too early to give a verdict to the stability of the engine.
The sound-proof is bad. Can hear the engine and the surroundings. Felt a lil low quality.
Steering wheel too light for guys to handle. Can be good as well. Depends on the individual preferences. But it is a lil too light for me. As if don't need to give any strength to it.
Rear is too high. Gives very lil view over the rear mirror.
A lil "uncle" sedan kinda design. Not appealing to the young drivers like my bro and I. Instantly felt 5 years older if I'm the driver. Oh sucks...
Hyundai i30 Advantages
Totally cool design. The exterior is almost comparable to Volkswagon GTI!!! Sleek and smooth. Oooh laa laa...
Large boot compartment even though it's hatch back. I've been driving hatch back cars for years and therefore, I'm naturally more incline to get a hatch back car. Well, sort of use to such design.
Perfect sound-proof installation. Prolly built to feel as if it's a high-end rally car, it has very good sound-proof interior to felt expensive.
Sunroof for the more expensive version. Nice but seriously, I don't need that.
Hyundai i30 disadvantages
EXPENSIVE!!! We need to pay alot additional for the down payment in order to match the monthly installment so as to keep within our budget. Think is around $6000 odd extra lor! Wah kaoz!!!
The package sucks and the salesman doesn't seemed willing to throw in better offers. Because it's built to look like sporty rally car, it have to have nice body kit. But the default second most expensive model only comes with sunroof, reverse sensor, leather seat and a miserable 15" sports rim! Not nice! And, to make it look nicer, we have to top up $1999 for additional body kit and 17" sports rim. What? Pay extra more?
And we've decided. We will settle for Kia Cerato Forte. Price indeed is very much a deciding factor. I've still got 1 more school installment to clear (provided that I don't fail any module). I've got a Taiwan trip at the end of the year. Mum's income is not exactly that high and she's got alot of monthly bills to settle as well. Brother will be starting class with RMIT soon and he also have limitation to how much he can afford.
Though Hyundai i30 is really appealing, we really have to settle to what is our limits. One way or another, think my brother did mature as compared to last time. He would had persuaded for i30 if this happened 2 years back. But he now is willing to compromise to the fact that we all have concerns over cashflow. Good good~~
National Day tomorrow. My family will be celebrating... in JB!!! Haha...
